Of all the Chinese teas, red teas are perhaps the most famous. There are many different varieties of Chinese red tea and their flavours and colours vary depending on the leaves.
When their leaves are seeped, Chinese red tea will have a brilliant and distinct red colour. Its flavour can be dominant and robust, or it can be mild. Its taste has the ability to linger after you swallow it.
This Wild Red tea is from Fujian Province, China, and is grown in a mountainous area 500 meters above the sea level. The leaves are small, curled whole leaves with a bit of a golden colour. This tea is great for people who want to have a nice cup of black tea without milk and sugar. Smooth yet sustained aroma, surprisingly natural sweetness with a hint of sweet potatoes and a honey aroma.
How to brew
-
Use freshly drawn cold water
-
Boil water & allow to cool for 4 to 5 minutes to about 80℃
-
Use 3g tea leaves in a 350ml cup
-
Steep for 1 to 2 minutes (or to your taste)
-
Infusions: at least 3 times – don't remove the leaves from the mug, as once the water level is low, simply add more water and keep going until the flavour of the tea is gone
