Huang Shan Mao Feng is one of the most famous Chinese Green Teas. It is grown in the Yellow Mountain (Huang Shan) region of Anhui Province, China. It has been grown for more than 300 years. The tea is also known as 'Yellow Mountain Fur Peak', this is due to the small white hairs which cover the leaves and also because of the shape of the processed leaves which resembles the peak of a mountain.
The best teas, the ones that we sell, are picked in the early Spring before China's Qingming Festival. When picking the tea, only the new tea buds and the young and tender, emerald-green tea leaf next to the bud are picked. It is said by local tea farmers that the leaves resemble orchid buds. The special processing technique produces a special tea that is strong, yet very refreshing. The aroma is a pleasant reminiscence of fresh Orchid bloom.
Fragrant aroma, reminiscence of fresh Orchid bloom, with a hint of pleasant nutty note, full flavour and long lasting after-taste. Strong, yet very refreshing. Can be drank any time of the day. Highly recommended.
How to brew
-
Use freshly drawn cold water
-
Boil water & allow to cool for 4 to 5 minutes to about 80℃
-
Use 3g tea leaves in a 350ml cup
-
Steep for 1 to 2 minutes (or to your taste)
-
Infusions: at least 3 times – don't remove the leaves from the mug, as once the water level is low, simply add more water and keep going until the flavour of the tea is gone
